Sovereign AI Unit

In November 2025 I was appointed by the Secretary of State for Science, Innovation and Technology to be the inaugural Chair of the UK's Sovereign AI unit.

The Sovereign AI Unit, backed by almost £500m in investment, will help build and scale AI capabilities on British shores. The unit will bring together government, industry and investors, to become the go-to fund for high potential start-ups and scale-ups in the UK.

We are currently building this institution, it's team, strategy and data platform, and hope to be able to share more in February 2026.
